The Marshland Syndicate

The Marshland Syndicate

These birds are not just passing through.

The Lowcountry marsh has its own hierarchy, its own rules, and its own characters. Some watch from the reeds. Some move fast and leave no trace. Others stand still long enough for you to forget they are there at all.

This collection imagines the marsh as an underworld. Each bird carries a nickname earned through habit, attitude, or quiet reputation. Eddie the Sneak never shows himself. Frankie Two Feathers has clearly survived a story or two. Others linger, waiting, always aware of the tide.

Painted from observation and a little storytelling instinct, these works balance humor with respect for the birds’ real behaviors. Nothing here is cartoonish. The marsh is still the marsh — moody, beautiful, and alive with tension — but now it has personalities you might recognize.

Think less field guide, more character study.
Welcome to their territory.

Held

Held

The  Held collection explores landscape as a place of quiet containment. These paintings are not about arrival or escape, but about being gathered by light, water, and horizon.

Inspired by the Lowcountry marsh, each work in the series uses expansive color and simplified form to create a sense of stillness and reassurance. The marsh becomes both setting and gesture. Water reflects, grasses cradle, and the sky presses gently downward, offering balance rather than drama.

The repeated use of the word Held in each title reflects the emotional intention of the series. These paintings are meant to evoke calm, grounding, and presence. They invite the viewer to pause, breathe, and feel supported by the landscape itself.

Rather than documenting a specific place, the Held collection captures an emotional geography. A moment where the natural world seems to say, you can rest here.

The Grace Series

The Grace Series

The Grace collection is a series of ethereal avian portraits inspired by the quiet holiness of the Lowcountry marsh. In these works, the egret becomes more than a bird. It becomes a symbol of transcendence, stillness, and spiritual awakening. Each painting captures a different moment in their  journey. The gathering of light, the softening into presence, and the luminous unfurling of wings as spirit rises. Through gentle color, expressive movement, and a reverence for the natural world, the series reflects the belief that grace is not something we strive for, but something we allow. A sacred unveiling that meets us in the marsh, in the quiet, and in ourselves.

Tranquility

Tranquility

The Tranquility Collection centers on expansive skies, softened horizons, and the quiet rhythm of coastal marshland. With compositions that favor atmosphere over detail, these works emphasize light, reflection, and subtle tonal transitions.

Foreground grasses emerge at water level, creating an intimate vantage point that draws the viewer into the landscape rather than observing from a distance. Color palettes are restrained and luminous, allowing gentle pinks, muted blues, and warm neutrals to dissolve seamlessly across sky and tide.

Each painting in the collection seeks to embody stillness as a form of strength and openness as a form of grace.

Commissioned Works

Commissioned Works

Commissioned Artwork

I warmly welcome commission requests, and I’ve designed the entire process to be simple, collaborative, and centered on you. My role as the artist is to guide and translate your vision — not impose mine — so that together we create a piece that feels deeply personal and meaningful in your home. With many years of experience in the home furnishings industry, I understand scale, color harmony, and the way art shapes a space. I never upcharge for commissions, and I walk you through each step with clarity and ease, from initial concept to final reveal. If you have a story, a memory, or a feeling you want captured on canvas, I’d be honored to bring it to life.

Lowcountry Littles

Lowcountry Littles

Lowcountry Littles are thoughtfully created in collaboration with my retail partners and tailored to each shop’s unique aesthetic. These small-scale works celebrate quintessential Southern imagery, offering collectors charming pieces that can be grouped into a striking gallery arrangement or displayed individually on a shelf, desk, or tabletop for a curated, collected feel.

Each piece is finished with painted edges, giving it a polished, ready-to-display presentation without the need for framing.

In addition to original Lowcountry Littles, fine art prints and cards featuring my work are also available for retail partners.

If you’re interested in developing a bespoke Lowcountry Littles collection for your shop or gallery, I’d love to connect.
